Why we charge full price for No-Show appointments

When thinking about this, I started to get into all the minutiae: why my time matters, how much I actually dislike collecting no show fees, how wasted the no show hour feels to me, something about all of my overhead costs and the other person who would’ve taken that time slot as well as how I pay my employees for your no show.

It’s an opportunity cost for us. You have held that spot and no one else can book there. Maybe a client who was in pain needed in. Maybe a new client who would’ve come to see us again and again wanted to book but instead went elsewhere and now we are left without either of those people AND we now have a whole in our books and our wallets.

I wanted to detail all the ways no-shows are disrespectful to us and to yourself .

In the end though, I decided to settle on this,

We have boundaries.

I know it seems like a lot to pay full price for an appointment you didn’t make it to, and to tell you the truth, we hate being in a position of charging you for an appointment you don’t make it to.

However, it’s what we have to do to respect our time and yours.

Currently, Mariah is booked out with very few appointments available for the next 45 days. Other clients would gladly take your spot if you had only given us the proper notice.

We know it sucks. We know sometimes it happens. We are reasonable when it comes to emergencies of course.

Please be aware of the impact your choices have on our tiny business. If we are not getting paid, we are not staying open. We hope to continue to serve the Spokane community for many years to come and, with your help and some boundaries we think we can!
